Saturday: Fairport Takes Canandaigua for Blake Strong

A long, hot day at Fairport saw multiple lacrosse games played between the Red Raiders and Canandaigua in a day to raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer and in the memory of Blake Cognata. fairport won the game, but CURE was the winner. Other winners in the 90 degree heat were Gates Chili, Brockport, Churchville-Chili, Pal-Mac, Geneva, Bloomfield-Honeoye, Hilton, Penfield, McQuaid Jesuit, Spencerport and Aquinas.

Canandaigua at Fairport

--  NOTES:  Fairport scored the first four goals and never trailed in their 7-4 win over Canandaigua. The Red Raiders continue their winning streak over the Braves having won the last five contests. Overall Canandaigua still leads overall 10-6 since 2003. Fairport had 9 players make their offensive scorebook with only two players scoring over Blake Cognataone point. TJ Hendricks finished at 1g-1a and Cameron Gebhardt finished with 2g. Hendricks scored the first goal and Gebhardt the second (with an assist from Hendricks). Between the pipes for the Red Raiders, Tyler Wetzel recorded 7 saves (64%).

Canandaigua attempted to fight back but never got closer than two goals. Leading in scoring for Canandaigua was Connor Hulme with 2g-1a. In the cage for the Braves, Luke MacNeil finished at 56% with 9 saves. Face off specialist, Nick Johnson won 14 of 17.
