Thursday: Thomas Takes Fairport in double OT
 - 
  There were fifteen games played in beautiful weather. Thomas senior midfielder Cam Isaac scored with six seconds left in the second overtime period to give Thomas an 11-10 win. Other close games included Thunder over Eastridge (15-12), Lightning over Spencerport (11-10), Midlakes over Newark (10-7), Gananda over Geneva (7-5) and Churchville-Chili over HF-L 9-7. Other winners were Wayne, Gates Chili, Penn Yan, Irondequoit, Rush-Henrietta, Victor, Pittsford and Pal-Mac.

--  NOTES:   Although Newark took a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and led at the half 6-4, Midlakes came back in the second half, outscoring Newark 6-1 for a 10-7 win for the Eagles. Senior midfielder Chris Goodman (4g-1a) scored the tying goal on a pass from senior attackman Jeshurun Eldridge with six minutes left in the game. Less than two minutes later senior attackman Alex Holt scored the go-ahead goal on a feed from Matt Vandamme.

With possession and under two minutes left, Goodman drove to the cage, scoring an unassisted goal and after winning the face off Holt drove from behind the cage for the 10-7 win for the Eagles.

--  NOTES:  Gananda (9-1) scored the final three goals of the contest to secure the 7-5 win over Geneva (5-6). The Blue Panthers had previously held the lead in the second quarter, but Geneva tied the game in the third and took the lead in the fourth quarter. With 8:09 remaining in the fourth quarter, Geneva led 5-4. This is the fourth time that the two teams have played, and with the win, Gananda tied the series at 2-2.

Joe Fisher scored the first goal for Gananda with an assist from long-stick midfielder (and Defensive Player of the Week Dylan Joy). Joy finished the game with a team leading eleven ground balls and five takes. He also finished with 3g-1a (2 goals in man-up). Geneva came back to tie the game with 0:29 remaining in the opening quarter with Jason Feinberg scoring off an assist from Sam Miller.

Feinberg and Miller scored again to take the lead for Geneva during a man-up opportunity in the second quarter. Miller then scored unassisted to four minutes later. The Panthers led (3-1) with 4:42 remaining in the half. Joy scored his only even strength goal (unassisted). Two minutes later Nick Rapp scored his lone goal of the contest to tie the game at 3-3. With 0:31 remaining Fisher scored (assisted by Riley Palmer) to give Gananda back the lead (4-3) going into halftime.

There was only a single goal in the third quarter with Miller scored unassisted for Geneva. Miller scored the opening goal of the fourth quarter to change the lead once again. The final three goals for the Blue Panthers were scored spanning five minutes. Joy scored back to back man-up goals with assists from Cruz Mayberry. Palmer added the final goal with an assist from Ben Donnan with 2:44 remaining in the contest.

Face off midfielder Remmy Glod finished at 63% for the Blue Panthers. He also added three ground balls. Fisher (3) and goalie Justin Anken (4) also added to the ground ball count. Anken finished at 67% between the pipes. For Geneva, Ben Rotenberg finished with 9 saves (56%).

--  NOTES:  HF-L scored the opening goal of the game only 0:11 into the contest. Four minutes later Churchville-Chili scored man-down to tie the game and they never trailed again. Ryan Cosgrove scored the man-down goal for the Saints and in the process scored his 100th career goal. The Saints held off a late advance to secure a 9-7 win over the Cougars.

The game was a story of two halves. Churchville-Chili controlled the first half and outscored the Cougars 7-2 going into the half. Churchville-Chili had scoring from Corey Yunker, Jason Tebo (3), and Cameron Shipley (2) in the first half. Tyler Bushnell scored the opening goal for HF-L and Tim Breau scored with 0:54 remaining in the first quarter. HF-L was held scoreless in the second quarter.

The Cougars came out of halftime a different team. The held Churchville-Chili scoreless for the first 21:39 of the second half, while adding five unanswered goals to tie the game at 7-7. The tying goal was scored by Buckland with 5:10 remaining in regulation. Churchville-Chili final scored with the final two goals of the game with scoring from Alex Goodermote and Cosgrove. The Saints also relied on two big saves from Matt Cobb late in the game to keep HF-L from tying. Cobb finished with 9 saves in the contest (56%).

--  NOTES:  Webster Thomas came back from a four goal deficit at the half and three goal deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime and then defeat Fairport 11-10. Thomas had taken the lead in regulation with a goal at 3:14 remaining. The Red Raiders scored the tying goal with 0:06 remaining in regulation, however, they could not score during overtime. The game was decided in the second overtime with 0:06 remaining (7:56 into overtime).

The game winning goal was scored by Cam Isaac and was his third of the contest. Midfielder Kevin Hill finished with 16 shots, 8 on cage and 4 goals for the Titans. Isaac and Hill contributed 63% of the shots for the Titans. Travis Ford and Hill scored the opening two goals to set the pace for Thomas. The Red Raiders scored three unanswered goals to take their first lead. Cameron Gebhardt scored the first two with Kyle McAvoy scoring the third. Isaac scored again to tie the game at 3-3.

Fairport took over and scored four unanswered goals in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 7-3 lead into the half. Scoring came from Gebhardt, Reese Burek, Mitchell DiSanto and McAvoy. Thomas scored two goals in the third quarter to bring the game within two. The Titans held the Red Raiders scoreless for fifteen minutes until the fourth quarter. Fairport kept up their scoring and their lead until 3:27 remaining in the fourth quarter when Ford assisted Hill to tie the game at 9-9. On the ensuing face-off the Titan took back the lead for the first time since the opening two goals. Joe Vasile scored unassisted for Thomas. McAvoy tied the game with time expiring for Fairport and Isaac secured the win in the second overtime period.

Davis Bird finished with 11 saves (52%) for the Titans. Tyler Wetzel finished with 16 saves (59%) for the Red Raiders.

--  NOTES:  Spencerport held an early lead before Greece Arcadia/Olympia took over the lead with 1:00 remaining in the first quarter. The Lightning never trailed again in their 11-10 win over the Rangers. Spencerport scored the final two goals to keep the game close, however, two big saves for Gavin Catalano gave the win to the Lightning.

Matt Schumann scored the opening goal of the contest for the Rangers with an unassisted drive to the cage. Just over a minute later Matt McHale scored the first goal for the Lightning. He was the big scorer for Greece with 5g-1a. The game continued back and forth for another six minutes before Trevor Dustin scored the first of his three goals with an assist from Jonathan Agness. Agness finished with 2g-3a to lead the Rangers. Once again the Lightning tied the score with another goal from McHale. With 1:00 remaining in the opening quarter, Adrian Romero scored with an assist from Dylan Bartlett to take the lead for Greece. Arc/Oly led 3-2 after the first quarter.

Spencerport tied the game for the last time with the opening goal of the second quarter. Dustin and Agness teamed up again for another score. Greece fired back with three back to back goals from McHale, Jake Mathis and Tyler Dalle. The Lightning led 6-3 with 1:56 remaining in the half. Spencerport scored two more goals in the final two minutes of the half to keep the contest a single goal game going into halftime. Swilley (unassisted) and Agness (from Colin McElligott) scored for Spencerport.

Greece outscored Spencerport 4-2 in the third quarter ad increased their lead to three goals going into the final quarter. Greece held the ball for a significant portion of the final quarter with only a single shot during the quarter (which was a goal). The Rangers kept up their pressure with 19 shots in the final quarter (11 on cage and 3 goals). Catalano finished with eight saves in the final quarter and 15 in the contest (60%).

McHale, midfielder Javia Ludgood and defenseman Jacob Corcoran each added three ground balls for Greece. Corcoran also had three takes. For Spencerport, face off midfielder Andrew Forte finished with a team leading 18 ground balls. He was also 71% at the face-off draw. Jordan Swilley (5), McElligott (4) and goalie Patrick Chapman (3) also added to the ground ball count. In the cage, Chapman finished with 4 saves.
