Player of the Week April 14, 2015

- The first Players of the Week awards are a pair of juniors on teams that have started off in a strong fashion, in part, as the result of their efforts. Max Lambert is an junior attackman at Victor and Parker Lawrence is a junior defenseman for Brighton.

Victor is currently undefeated (4-0) and have scored fifty-eight goals. Although sixteen players have made the offensive books in those four games, one of the scoring leaders is junior attackman Max Lambert. Max had four points in each of three games and three points in the fourth and is 9g-6a at this point in the season. Seventy-nine percent of his shots have been on cage and sixty percent of those resulted in goals for the Blue Devils. He is verbally committed to the University of Massachusetts.

Victor Head Coach, Jim Andre is proud of his attackman: "As a starting Attackmen, he has both the ability to find the open man for the Assist, and the ability to finish his shots in close. Behind the cage, Max changes his direction quickly, often creating offensive opportunities by making the defense slide early to account for his athleticism.."

Brighton sits are 4-1 at the start of their season and the junior long stick midfielder/defenseman has been helpful with his twenty-seven ground balls and six take aways. A good number of his ground balls come from the long-stick wing during face offs and is often assigned to the strong offensive midfielder.

Coach Cory Holbrough says. "He is a lead by example guy and is our top defensive player. Last year he was our defensive player of the year and has created important turnovers in each of our games."

The Connors and Ferris law firm is sponsoring recognition for a Varsity level Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week this year.

Each week a small committee of SportsFive.NET staff members and some Section Five Lacrosse Committee members will create and review review nominations from coaches, players and fans and pick one offensive and one defensive player who have excelled in a game or games during the season.

The award winners will receive a commemorative shirt and will featured on the SportsFive.NET web site.

Fans of Section Five Lacrosse can make their nominations on-line by clicking here.

Make your next week's nominations by Noon on Sunday, April 19th.
