-- On paper, Pittsford looked strong in the preseason with a strong mixture of dominate offensive players and a returning defense that was already proven last year. In their opening today, they solidified that impression. Senior midfielder Brandon Barker was pretty much unstoppable from the front and the long sticks look like they are at mid-season. There are thirteen defensemen on the thirty-six man roster and defensive coach Ted Rund uses many of them. Seniors Mike Perotto and Ryan Fairbrother and juniors Jared Conners, Michael Gigantelli and Will Pieterse are aggressive and work closely as a defensive team. Conners figures heavily on the face off wing working well with senior face off man Zac Cooley.
Ithaca appears to be in a growth year, as predicted. They left at 6:30 AM for the 10:00 game in Pittsford so that the Panthers could leave right after the game for their trip to Harvard Stadium where they will play top-ranked Duxbury on Saturday.
