--  Gananda junior midfielder Nick Rapp scored the winning goal on an assist from Riley Palmer with just 0:18 left in the game as the Blue Panthers defeated Geneva 11-10. The tightly contested game saw fierce competition as Gananda scored the first two goals in man up plays. Riley Palmer scored the first goal with an assist from Joe Fisher. Fisher scored the scored with an assist from Colin Brillian before Geneva scored their first goal (Robert Miller from Eddie Eddington). Less than two minutes later Gananda had another score as Palmer found Fisher, but Hunter Seaward scored for Geneva after the next face off. His goal was the first of four in a row by the Panthers who took a 5-3. Eddington scored the first two in man up (with the second goal assisted by Jason Feinberg) and the Feinberg scored with just over a minute left in the quarter. After Gananda senior midfielder Zack Bingelli scored his unassisted goal at 0:24 the first quarter ended with Geneva up 5-4.Gananda at Geneva

After several minutes of transition, Eddington extended the Geneva lead to two with his unassisted goal. Palmer took away the goal at 3:58 but Eddington took it back at 3:17. Continuing the cycle, Palmer added one for Gananda (assisted by Fisher), but on the next face off Eddington scored his fifth goal and the half ended with Geneva up 8-6.

Gananda regrouped during the breaks and scored the only goals in the third quarter. Brillian added one on an interior pass from Kyle Lombardozzi and Fisher scored on a feed from Brillian to tie the game at 8-8 after three quarters.Gananda at Geneva

The pressure was high and there was lots of dram in the final twelve minutes as the teams see-sawed back and forth with scoring. Bingelli was first, giving Gananda the lead. Seaward then scored for Geneva to tie the game at 9-9 with just over five minutes left in regulation. Gananda broke the tie again, when long stick defenseman Dylan Joy raced down field on a clear and after dodging three players scored his unassisted goal at 4:55. Less than thirty seconds later Seaward tied the game at 10-10. Geneva called a time out with possession and just over a minute left, but a critical take away by Joy gave the ball to Gananda, whose Head Coach Mike Malloy called time out. After taking time off the clock and with time running out, Palmer made and interior feed to Rapp who scored with 0:18 left in regulation. Face off specialist Remmy Glod won the draw for Gananda and ran the ball to their offensive end where the Blue Panthers ran out the remaining few seconds. Glod won 72 percent of his draws in the game (18/23). Dylan Joy led the ground ball effort for the Blue Panthers, scooping up 15 for Gananda. return to top
