-- Special Although the game was tied twice, Fairport never trailed in their 11-7 win over Victor. The Red Raiders scored the opening goal when Justin Kesselring pulled all the way out past the restraining line before driving straight at the cage and putting the shot off-stick past Brennan Mackey in the cage for Victor. Kesselring finished with 3g-2a for the Red Raiders and was an integral part of their early offense (he was involved in the first four Red Raider goals).Victor at Fairport

Overall, the Blue Devils played well, but were unable to keep up with Fairport's high powered offense and exceptional goalie play. Joey Scalise finished with 15 saves for the Red Raiders, including a number of point blank saves that were totally unexpected. One of the highlights for Victor was face-off midfielder TD Ierlan. He, once again, demonstrated his skill at the draw, finishing 17/21 (81%) and picked up his own ground ball nine times. Offensively, midfielder Jamie Trimboli had a strong game and finished with 2g-1a.

Although the score shows a close game, the Red Raiders were in control for the majority of the game. Fairport scored four of the first five goals and led 4-1 with 9:47 remaining in the second quarter. Kesselring scored twice and assisted Cameron Gebhardt and Dan McAvoy. For Victor, Trimboli scored the lone goal after picked up a loose ball on the crease. Victor scored the last two goals of the second quarter to keep the game within one going into halftime. Mike DeMarco scored from another loose ball pickup on the crease followed by an inside feed from Trimboli to Eric Haney. The Red Raiders led 4-3 going into halftime.

Fairport's Dylan DeLorme scored the opening goal of the second half during a fast break with Jahadi Prior assisting. Victor scored the next two goals back to back to tie the game for the second time. Dan Barrow scored twice in under a minute with a drive from behind in even play and an outside shot during man-up. With 8:54 remaining in the third quarter, the score was a close as it would get (5-5). The Red Raider scored the next five unanswered goals. Four of their five goals were scored during man-up as the Blue Devils could not stay out of the penalty box and Fairport's man up unit was too effective.

Victor scored two more goals in the fourth quarter to keep the game from getting out of hand, but they were never back in the game after their slip in the second half of the third quarter. In the cage for Victor, Mackey played three quarters and recorded 3 saves. Justin Young played the final quarter and finished with 2s/2ga = 50%. In addition to Ierlan's ground balls, Trimboli added five and defensemen Patrick Barrow and Jack Callahan added four each. For the Rd Raiders, defenseman Dan Biron finished with a team leading five ground balls. LSM Allen Thibodeau had an impressive came defensively and finished with three ground balls. return to top
