Gates Chili scored the final four goals of the contest to defeat Greece Arcadia/Olympia 10-8. --  Gates Chili scored the final four goals of the contest to defeat Greece Arcadia/Olympia 10-8. The Spartans kept the game close for three quarters before holding the Lightning scoreless for the final thirteen minutes. Greece started off strong, scoring four of the first five goals to take the early lead. Bryan Collister scored two of the goals for the Lightning. With 6:02 remaining in the second quarter, Greece led 4-1.

The Spartans scored the next three goals to tie the game early in the third quarter. Brian May, Joe Talarico and Kristian Sarkis scored for Gates-Chili. The team continued to trade goals early in the third quarter and Gates-Chili took their first lead of the game with 7:13 remaining in third quarter with a man-up goal by Talarico (assisted by Joseph O`Hare). O`Hare finished with 3g-1a to lead the Spartans. Greece didn't let up in the third quarter and scored three goals before time expired in the quarter. Nick Serio, Jake Mathis and Duncan Erikson all scored unassisted goals for the Lightning.

--  Although the game was close for a half, Marcus Whitman outscored Newark 8-2 in the second half in their 11-3 victory. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Tyler Wolfe with 3g-4a. Attackman Matt Hall added three goals. Face off midfielder Lane Brown finished at 58% at the face-off draw and with a team leading six ground balls. Goalie Merritt Bailey and defenseman Pat Hall added five ground balls each.

--  Game NOTE:Freshman attackman Evan Kelly scored the game winning goal with 1:16 remaining in the first overtime period to give HF-L their 9-8 win over Wayne. The Cougars held off a late push by the Eagles with senior midfielder Ryan Kelly scoring the tying goal to send the game into overtime. The game was back and forth with both teams leading during the contest. Wayne scored the opening goal during man-up with Andrew Jenkins assisting Tim Oddi. Six minutes later HF-L scored their opening goal (also during man-up). Ryan Kelly scored with an assist from Tim Breau. Each team added another goal in the opening quarter and the first quarter ended with the score tied at 2-2.

HF-L had a strong second quarter and took a two goal lead. The Cougars scored the first two goals of the quarter with unassisted goals from Breau and R. Kelly. The quarter ended with HF-L leading 6-4.

Wayne fought back in the third quarter to tie the game at 7-7 going into the final quarter. Wayne scored the last two goals of the quarter with the tying goal coming with 0:11 remaining. John Bowman scored unassisted for the Eagles to tie the game. Each team added a single goal in the fourth quarter.

In the cage for Wayne, Justin Townsend finished with 4 saves. Face-off midfielder Nic Martin finished 75% at the draw with a team leading 11 ground balls.. For HF-L, Bryce Kelly finished with nine saves.  return to top
