Penn Yan Sophomore Austin Fingar Says Cornell
 -

Fiore Penn Yan Academy sophomore Austin Fingar announced yesterday that he has made a verbal commitment to Cornell University Head Coach Ben DeLuca to attend and play for the Big Red after his graduation in 2016.

The strong face off midfielder posted 6g-5a in his freshman year with the Mustangs as they won their eighteenth Section Five Championship and advanced to the New York State Semifinals.

In the off-season, Fingar was very busy. Playing with his Penn Yan teammates he attended the John Pepper, Genesee Community Collage, Liverpool and Valley tournaments. While playing with the SweetLax Lacrosse Club, he played at the Best of the Best, the Maverick Showtime and King of the Hill Tournaments. This fall he played with SweetLax at the Quaker Laxfest and Harvard Crimson Classic and at the Tully Cornfield, Flower City Face off and Webster tournaments with Penn Yan.

Cornell had an exciting 2013 season, winning the Ivy League Championship and ending 14-4 after losing to Duke in last year's NCAA semifinals.

Before selecting Cornell, Fingar looked at Syracuse, Hobart and Michigan.
