-- Livonia started the game in complete control, but, after numerous penalties and missed opportunities, Aquinas came back and defeated the Bulldogs 12-10. Livonia scored the first four goals of the contest and held the Little Irish offence scoreless for 15:41. Going into halftime they led 4-2. Halfway through the third quarter they started having problems. Aquinas scored six goals in 4:15 to take a three goal lead into the fourth quarter. Although the Bulldogs scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, Aquinas added three more to increase their lead to five goals before Livonia started their late drive. They added the final three goals of the game to bring the game back to within two for the final score.
Livonia's scoring was started off by Derek Bishopp. He scored the only goal of the first quarter with an unassisted drive with 3:20 remaining. Bishopp finished with 5g-2a to lead the Bulldogs. Bishopp also led his team in face-offs going 58% (15/26) and in ground balls with 12. He kept up his scoring in the second quarter when he assisted Josh Wester for the second goal of the game. Wester finished with 2g-1a for Livonia. Less than one minute later Dustin Ayers scored to increase their lead (assisted by Josh Lyons). Bishopp scored his second goal with 9:34 remaining in the half. The first Aquinas goal of the game was scored with 8:19 remaining in the quarter. Alex Bianchi assisted Billy Lombardi for the goal. Bianchi finished with 4g-3a for the Little Irish. Lombardi's goal was scored during extra-man offense. Livonia had difficulty keeping out of the penalty box, especially in the second half, and Aquinas finished with four extra-man goals. Two of the extra man- goals were during the unanswered six goal run. The final goal of the opening half was an inverse of the last goal with Lombardi assisting Bianchi. Livonia held the 4-2 lead going into the half.
Aquinas scored the first goal of the second half with an unassisted goal from Bianchi to bring the game within a single goal. Off the next face off, defenseman Sean Kidder picked up the ball from the face off and looked to Bishopp who was driving from the midfield. Bishopp grabbed the ball and finished into the back of the net. Livonia scored the next goal to increase their lead to three with an unassisted goal from Wester. With 6:57 remaining in the quarter, Aquinas began their scoring stretch. Aquinas scored on their next six straight shots. The first goal was scored by Ricky Barton with an assist from Jonathan Perotto. Perotto then turned around and scored the second goal with an assist from Jamison Whitfield. Whitfield, a junior, has 12 shots on cage this season with 9 resulting in goals (75% goals from shots on cage). He has a total of 10g-9a in his two year career at Aquinas. He finished this game with 2g-3a. He was part of the next four goals. He scored unassisted to tie the game with 3:47 remaining. During the score, there was a flag down and Livonia was sent to the penalty box. Whitfield began with the ball and passed it to Olbrich for the goal. Once again a flag was down and on the ensuing possession. Whitfield fed Olbrich for another man-up goal. Bianchi capped the quarter with another unassisted goal with 2:42 remaining. All six goals took less than five minutes of game time. Aquinas led 9-6 going into the final quarter.
Livonia won the face off to start the quarter with Wester picking up the loose ball. Jack Simpson took the first two shots of the quarter and converted on his second shot with an unassisted goal with 10:43 remaining. The Bulldogs never got closer than two goals with Aquinas scoring the next three goals. Whitfield scored his second during man-up with a goal (assisted by Bianchi). Three minutes later Bianchi scored with an assist from Olbrich. 0:49 later and Bianchi returned the favor assisting Olbrich on a goal of his own. Aquinas led by five goals with 2:56 remaining in the contest. Livonia scored the final three goals of the game; including a man-down goal from Bishopp. The final goal of the game was scored in man-up for Livonia with Bishopp assisting Ayers with 0:04 remaining.
In the cage for Livonia, Jordan Cauwels finished with nine saves. Defenseman Luke Terry joined Bishopp in the ground ball count with 5. Kidder (3), Ayers (3) and Wester (3) also contributed. For Aquinas, Alex Uhlein finished with eight saves. Defenseman Liam Smith and midfielder Terrance Richards led the Little Irish with four ground balls each. Defenseman Mike Perotto and Lombardi finished with three ground balls each. Defenseman AJ Lobrutto also had a solid performance with two one-on-one takes.

-- The second quarter made all the difference in the game today between the visiting Mynderse Blue Devils and the Marcus Whitman Wildcats. Mynderse scored five goals in that second quarter to help give the Blue Devils the 10-7 win. The Blue Devils scored the first three goals of the game and led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. Although Whitman scored first in the second, Mynderse scored the next four to give the Blue Devils a 6-1 lead before Marcus Whitman returned with two to break the streak. At halftime the score was 8-3 for Mynderse.
Both teams scored one goal in the third quarter, but the Wildcats scored the second goal and added the next two at the start of the last quarter. The ball kept going up and down the field in transition play as each team took a shot only to lose possession. The Wildcats ran out of time, while the Blue Devils kept them from shooting in the last minute and a half.
Both goalies played well in the rain and the muddy creases. Mynderse goalie Tim Trickler ended the game with fifteen saves (68%) and Wildcat goalie Merritt Bailey ended the game with ten saves (50%). The face off contest went to Mynderse (15/21 for 71%), led by Sean Anderson (6/7) and Aaron Peterman (8/13). The offensive efforts were led by Connor Kelly (3g) and Matt Hall (2g-1a) for Marcus Whitman and Mike Barbay (3g-1a), Aaron Peterman (3g), Justin Hlywa (1g-2a) and Season Anderson (1g-2a) for Mynderse.
