Pittsford's Panara Commits to Fairfield

Dan HickeyPittsford junior defenseman Nick Panara gave his verbal commitment to attend and play lacrosse at Fairfield University today.

A varsity player since his freshman year, Panara considered Loyola, Syracuse, Cornell, Maryland and Bucknell before selecting the Stags.

In the off-season he played for the Nike Upstate Rising Sophomore team, and last summer was a Brine All-American. He also played in the Under Armour underclassmen Elite Stars Tournament. SweetLax is his club team, and he played with them at the fall UpLax tournament in Maryland.

He will be playing at Fairfield for Head Coach Andy Copelan, who also played at Pittsford. In his senior year, Copelan was named MVP of the Section Five Class A tournament and was a USLacrosse All-American. Copelan starts his fifth year as the Head Coach at Fairfield and has a Division I career of 53-39. Panara expects to play two more seasons at Pittsford.
