Sophomore midfielder Sam Byassee considered Ohio State, UNC and Penn State before making a verbal commitment to attend and play at the University of Maryland after his 2015 graduation from Victor.

The left-handed middie scored in eight games as a freshman in last year's season, including two goals in the Blue Devils 13-12 win over Pittsford in May.

He has been a member of the Blaze Upstate Lacrosse Team for three years and has participated in the Ultimate Performance Lacrosse, Lake Placid and Jake Reed's Nike Blue Chip camps. At the Reed camp his performance picked up a mention by Inside Lacrosse as one of the top midfielders at the event.
