June 10, 2010 - Fairport makes the Championship round with their 8-6 win over Section Four Champion, Ithaca in the Upstate Championships (State Semi Final) held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School night. The previously unbeaten Little Red, ranked number two in the NYSSWA poll this week, end their season at 18-1.
In earlier games, Class C Champion Aquinas fell to Corning East in a 7-6 game that went right to the end. Jamesville-DeWitt, another undefeated NYS team and Ranked number one in the State Poll, beat Irondequoit in the first game of the day with a score of 9-5.
The New York State Championships are up next and will be held at Stony Brook University on Saturday, June 12th. The order of games in the State Tournament are Class B in the first game, Class C in the second game and Class A in the last game.
• 11:00 AM - Class B -Jamesville-DeWitt (Section 3) vs Garden City (Section 8)
• 1:30 PM - Class C -Corning East (Section Four) vs Manhasset (Section 8)
• 4:00 PM - Class A -Fairport (Section 5) vs West Islip (Section 11)
Garden City (18-3), defeated Niskayuna (Section 2) 5-4 on Thursday while Manhasset made the finals on the basis of their 13-4 win over Putnam Valley (Section 1). West Islip, who along with Manhasset are defending NYS Champions beat Lakeland/Panas (Section 1) 20-10.
