Man if I'm Brighton I'm not happy. You have 0 losses in class B, the teams ahead of you, you beat handily and some how draw the 3 seed? That's nuts they need to fix that seeding system.

As this thread has continued, I could not resist the opportunity for a teachable moment.....

The process for seeding is at:
https://blaxfive.net/news/reports.php?reportnum=1090

So this year......

Brighton had
2 10 point wins (CA and CBA)
4 8 points wins (Penfield, Victor, Pittsford, Irondequoit
6 6 point wins (Thomas, Spencerport, HFL, Brockport, C-C and Schroeder)
4 4 point games (Hilton loss, St. Joe's loss, Eastridge win, Fairport loss)
so they had a total of 104 points
Seeding is based on an average to 104/16=6.50

Victor had
5 10 point wins (Hilton, BVille, Kettle Moraine, Canandaigua, F-M)
2 8 point wins (Pittsford, Irondequoit)
3 6 points wins (Thomas, C-C, Schroeder)
5 4 point losses (Fairport, Brighton, Gates, JD, Corning)
1 3 point loss to Penfield)
so they had a total of 107 points and an average of 6.69

Canandaigua had
3 10 point wins (Pal-Mac, Hamburg, Hilton)
4 8 point wins (Irondequoit, Penn Yan, Orchard Park, Penfield)
3 6 point wins (C-C, Thomas, Schroeder
3 4 point games (Brighton loss, GC win, Fpt loss)
2 3 point losses (Pittsford, Victor
so they has a total of 108 points and an average of 6.75

Those three teams are so close that certainly any of the three could win.

You could play the "what if game" that would have made all the difference. For example, if Brighton had beaten Hilton, or St. Joe or Fairport, they might have added six points to their total but would have added at least four. If Victor had beaten Penfield they would earned the top seed and so on....

In the end, the Class B tournament final four will be something to see and could be anyone's game.

Yes the way the numbers shake out I fully understand why each team is where they are.

However, the system certainly has flaws.

We don't even need to talk "what ifs" ......When you have 0 losses in class B and also beat a team 15-5 ( CA) {#1 seed} and another team 12-8 (Vic) {#2 seed} who are all ranked ahead of you in the Class B playoffs, it seems to render the current process somewhat invalid.

Be that as it may, the seeds are set and the playoffs are underway! Agree, this should be a playoff for the ages, can't wait to see how it plays out.

Thomas 5-4 over McQuaid . Not overly surprised but Thomas has some lineage and pedigree that Mcq does not have . Thomas is a fixture late into the sectionals . Best of luck going forward . McQ will improve over time if they are willing to upgrade the schedule . There had to be an upset somewhere along the way !

Canandaigua vs Victor was everything you would have expected and then some . Great defense , great goaltending , and two teams leaving everything they had on the field at Fisher . Good luck to Victor the rest of the way .
