| The Blue Devils finished the 2012 season with the same record as in 2011, 10-8, although their tournament seed of fifth was one better than the year before. After beating fourth seeded McQuaid Jesuit in the quarter final round, Victor lost to Irondequoit in the semi finals and finished fourth in the Class B tournament. Their 2-2 league record placed the Blue Devils fourth in Monroe County Division II.
Six players scored at least twenty points during the season. Senior midfielder John Maloney led the team in goals and points as he turned in 46g-28a (74 pts). Senior attackman Mitch Rupp led the team in assists with 31g-29a (60 pts). Senior midfielders TJ DiSanto added 23g-12a and Dale Mattice had 20g-5a. Senior attackman Max Hill had 33g-6a and junior attackman Roy Young finished with 28g-6a. Junior goalie Chris Saar took most of the minutes in the Blue Devil goal and made 102 saves. Senior defensemen John Novitsky and Alex Davis led the defense.
Victor took a number of All-League Awards as Rupp, Maloney and Novitsky were named to the first team and DiSanto and Davis made the second team. Mattice was named to the Class B All-Tournament team. Maloney was named to the second team All-Section Five list and the team earned a NYS Scholar / Athlete Award with an 92.507 average.
Five seniors planned to play in college. They were Davis (Geneseo), DiSanto (Binghamton), Maloney (Albany), Novitsky (Oswego) and Rupp (Albany). |
