| The Patriots continued to perform at the highest levels of the Class A field in 2012. They took a 12-4 pre-tournament record right to Championship appearance. Their 4-1 Monroe County D1 record placed them second in the league, just behind Fairport. Taking the second seed in the Class A tournament Penfield beat Rush-Henrietta and then Pittsford before losing to Fairport in the finals. They ended the season with a 14-5 record.
Sixteen players made the offensive books in 2012 and four had at least fifty points. Junior attackman Andrew Schoeneck led the team in goals with 46g-17a. Senior midfielder Matt Condon led in assists with 28g-29a and senior offensiveman Andrew Huntington led in points with 45g-19a (64 pts). Senior middie Matt Bilak had 30g-20a. Senior goaltender Keith Keehn had nearly all of the goal time and made 133 saves. He had two years as the starter for the Patriots and ended his career with 274 saves (51%). Junior defensemen Charlie Cummins and Nick Kimmins and senior long-stick midfielder Justin Rehm protected the ball and helped to earn a seventy-six percent clearing record for Penfield. Junior face off specialist Connor Russell took most of the face offs for Penfield. He won 202 draws and gave the ball to the Patriots 75.4% of the time. He also led the team in ground ball production, picking up 158 during the season.
Earning first team All-League (MC-D1) honors were Schoeneck, Bilak, Condon, Russell, Cummins and Rehm. Huntington and Kimmins were named to the second team. Schoeneck, Huntington and Rehm made the Class A All-Tournament team. Rehm and Russell made first team All-Section honors and were also named to the D&C Top 16 list. Condon and Cummins received second team All-Section honors. Condon also earned the SportsFive Sportsman of the Year award. Connor Russell was named a USLacrosse All-American and Justin Rehm earned the USLacrosse Academic All-American award. The Patriots also won a NYS Scholar/Athlete Award with an average of 92.573.
