Their 4-1 Monroe County D1 record placed them second in the league, just behind Fairport. Taking the second seed in the Class A tournament Penfield beat Rush-Henrietta and then Pittsford before losing to Fairport in the finals. They ended the season with a 14-5 record.

Sixteen players made the offensive books in 2012 and four had at least fifty points. Junior attackman Andrew Schoeneck led the team in goals with 46g-17a. Senior midfielder Matt Condon led in assists with 28g-29a and senior offensiveman Andrew Huntington led in points with 45g-19a (64 pts). Senior middie Matt Bilak had 30g-20a. Senior goaltender Keith Keehn had nearly all of the goal time and made 133 saves. He had two years as the starter for the Patriots and ended his career with 274 saves (51%). Junior defensemen Charlie Cummins and Nick Kimmins and senior long-stick midfielder Justin Rehm protected the ball and helped to earn a seventy-six percent clearing record for Penfield. Junior face off specialist Connor Russell took most of the face offs for Penfield. He won 202 draws and gave the ball to the Patriots 75.4% of the time. He also led the team in ground ball production, picking up 158 during the season.
