Post Game Notes: Long Island wins their fifth straight Gold Medal and Central wins their third straight Silver. Long Island has defeated Central in four of their five straight Gold Medals. Long Island was led by Brandon Gamblin (4g) and Kyle Keenan (1g-4a). For Central, Alex Haten (2g) and Ari Waffle (2g) led. Central goalie Tyler White finished the game with 16 saves (70%). At the face-off Central finished at 53%; Tim Edwards finished 8/13 (62%).

Game 16 - Western takes on Adirondack

Post Game Notes: Western wins the Bronze Medal. Western wins their first Medal since receiving Bronze in 2007. Jordan Frysinger was the standout for Wester. Frysinger finished with 1g-4a, 13 ground balls, and 15/19 at the face-off draw (including 14/14 in non-technical face-offs). Other significant performances for Western include Nick Doktor (3g-2a) and Zach Reed (4g). For Adirondack, Tim Coll finished with 2g and Tristian Sperry finished with 1g-1a.

Post Game Notes: Central defeated Hudson Valley 16-7. Central won each of the four quarters, including holding Hudson Valley scoreless in the second quarter. Leading the scoring for Central was Dylan Donahue (4g-1a). Joe corapi (3g-1a), Derek Kehoe (2g-1a), Riley Lasda (2g-1a) and Nick Piroli (1g-2a). For Hudson Valley, Rob Caffrey finished with 2g-2a and Chris Bonaventura finished with 1g-1a. For Central Lasda finished 10/11 at the face off (91%).

Game 14 - New York City takes on Long Island

Post Game Notes: Long Island defeated NYC 15-3. Long Island led 8-2 at the half and held NYC scoreless in the fourth quarter. For Long Island Brandon Gamblin finished with six goals. Tom Gordon (2g-2a), Kyle Keenan (1g-3a) and James Pannell (2g-1a) also made contributions. For NYC, Mark Phillips finished with one goal and one assist. Of note, Face-off man Jake Froccaro did not take a face-off in the entire contest. Instead, Brandon Gamblin (5/7) Michael Andreassi (5/8) and JP Burnside (2/5) faced for Long Island.

Game 13 - Adirondack takes on Western

Post Game Notes:
Western scored the first eight goals in their 8-1 win over
Adirondack. Due to weather concerns, the State Chairman called the game with 2:09 remaining. Western's Derek DeJoe led scoring with 3g and Jordan Frysinger had 1g-2a. Additionally, Mike Messina had 2a.
For Adirondack, Carter Sherman scored the lone goal with 6:47 remaining in the fourth quarter. Western's David Scarello finished ith 11 saves (91.7%).
Western and Adirondack will face again tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM for the Bronze Medal.

Game 12 - Long Island takes on Central

Post Game Notes: Central demonstrated that they are the team to beat in the tournament with an overtime win over Long Island 8-7. Central came out to a 5-0 lead before Long Island got on the board. Long Island scored four straight unanswered goals to bring the score to 5-4. Scoring traded back and forth and when regulation completed the score was tied 7-7. Central won the face-off in overtime and held the ball for over a minute and a half before finally shooting. Central's first shot was over the net; however, Central's Thomas Grimm took a hard outside shot from the right side to secure the win. Leading the scoring charge for Central was Kevin Rice (2g). For Long Island, James Pannell finished with 2g-1a and Michael Andreassi finished with 2g.
After the completion of four rounds the standings are:

Long Island 3-1
Adirondack 2-2
Western 2-2
Hudson Valley 1-3
New York City 0-4
With only one game remaining tomorrow the Medal games have been mathematically set. Central and Long Island will face in the Gold Medal game and Adirondack and Western will face in the Bronze Medal game.

Post Game Notes: Western defeated Hudson Valley 10-7 after a big showing in the third quarter. Hudson Valley tried for the second time in tournament to mount a comeback but Western kept control of the ball in the final minutes for the win. Western's scoring was led by Jordan Frysinger (2g-1a). Additional Western scoring came from Derek DeJoe (2g), Klay Heston (2g) and Zach Reed (2a). For Hudson Valley, Briggs Barton and TJ Foley each scored two goals.

Leading the charge for Adirondack were Tim Coll (2g-3a) and Brian Schlansker (2g). For NYC, Neil Hamamoto had 2g. In the cage, Adirondack's Bob Wardwell finished with nine saves (75%).

Game 9 - Western takes on Central

Post Game Notes: Central came out slowly, but scored ten goals in the second half on their way to a 12-4 win over Western. Western held the 3-2 lead going into halftime; however Central came out swinging in the second half and scored multiple back to back goals for the win. Cetnral was led in scoring by Kevin Rice (5g). Dylan Donahue (1g-2a) and Joe Corapi (3g) also added to the tally. For Western, Nick Doktor led with 1g-1a; four other Western players had one point. At the face-off, Central's Edwards finished 9/14 (64%).

Game 8 - Adirondack takes on Long Island

Post Game Notes: Long Island appeared to be two different teams in their win over Adirondack. Long Island defeated ADK 12-4. However in the first half Adirondack stepped up their game, holding Long Island to only two goals while they scored three. Goalie Bob Wardwell finished the first half 12/14 (86%); however in the second half, he recorded 3/10 (23%).
In the first half Long Island had difficulty finding the back of the net but in the second half they scored three goals spanning fifteen seconds with back-to-back face-off fast-breaks. Leading the scoring for Long Island was Jake Froccaro with 2g-1a and Michael Andreassi with 3a. Adirondack had four different players score each of their goals.

Game 7 - New York City takes on Hudson Valley

Post Game Notes: Hudson Valley scored the first five goals of the contest and held NYC scoreless for the first two quarters. The final score was 5-2 Hudson Valley. Overall the game was back and forth with both teams having opportunities at the cage. NYC goalie, Chris Fiore, finished with eight saves and was a reason his team was in the game for as long as they were. Hudson Valley's Mike Grace shutout NYC in the first quarter and had five saves. Cameron Stevens finished the game for Valley and also had five saves. Rob Caffrey led the scoring with 3g-1a. At the face-off Hudson Valley combined for 80% wins at the draw.

Post Game Notes: Western held New York City scoreless in their 17-0 win in the last game of day one. Western held NYC to only four shots, three on cage, in the final game of the second round. Western's scoring was led by Zach Reed (3g-1a). Klay Heston (3g), Derek DeJoe (3a), Jordan Frysinger (2g-1a) and Ryan Yunker (2g-1a) all added to the Western tally. Western finished 14/19 at the face-off draw.

Post Game Notes: Central held Adirondack to only 13 shots in their 12-4 win in game five today. Central scored nine goals in the first half, while holding Adirondack to only one goal (in four shots). Central's scoring was led by Kevin Rice (3g-2a). Also scoring were Ari Waffle (4g) and Tim Edwards (1g-2a). Edwards also had a stand-out day at the face-off draw winning 14/17 (82%). For Adirondack, four different scorers added to the score book; Tim cox, Alex D'Amario, Troy Gargiulo and Carter Sherman.

Post Game Notes: Central finished the first round of play with a win over New York City winning 14-6. Central controlled the game for nearly the entire first three quarters. Overall, Central led in shots 46-15 and shots on cage 29-11. Their scoring was led by Kevin Rice (2g-4a). Dylan Donahue (2g-1a) and Ari Waffle (3g) also contributed to the scoring.
For NYC, Neil Hamamoto (3g) led with Mark Phillips (2g) and Michael Lofrese (1g-1a) rounding out the scoring. Of note was the NYC goalie, Chris Fiore, who finished with 15 saves and kept the contest from getting out of hand.

Post Game Notes: In the second game of the day, Adirondack held off the late advances of Hudson Valley to win 7-6. Adirondack took the early lead, going up by as much as four (6-2) before Hudson Valley started coming back. Hudson Valley scored four of the last five goals, including two extra-man goals. In the cage, Bob Wardwell of Adirondack lived up to his reputation. Wardwell (Shenendehowa / Syracuse) finished teh game with seven saves. Leading the scoring for Adirondack was Tim Cox with 3g. Tristan Sperry (1g-1a) and Tim coll (2a) also contributed to the win. Briggs Barton finished with 3g-1a to lead Hudson Valley. Also scoring for Hudson Valley were Rob Caffrey (2a) and Kieran Donohue (2g).

Game One - Western Takes on Long Island

Post Game Notes: Long Island wins the first game of the tournament 10-4 over Western.
Long Island defeated Western 10-4 in the opening contest of the 2010 Empire State Games. Long Island's Kyle Keenan (Smithtown West/Duke) led all scoring with 3g-3a. Keenan was a major force for Long Island behind the cage, scoring from drives and setting up open cross-crease passes. James Pannell (1g-2a) and Tom Gordon (1g-1a) were also major factors in the Long Island win. At the face-off, Jake Froccaro came back from early difficulties to finished at 66% (10/15) with five ground balls. For Western, Ryan Yunker led in scoring with 1g-1a.
