Saturday: Penn Yan, CA and West Genny Win Today
March 30, 2013 - With most teams taking the weekend off, there were only three games scheduled for today. Penn Yan hosted HF-L and junior goalie Brandon Maciejewski earned a rare shutout as the Mustangs won 18-0. Canandaigua broke a 3-3 tie with Churchville-Chili at halftime and won their game at Hobart College 10-4. Penfield traveled to West Genesee where the Wildcats won 5-3. Full Report

Thursday: Canandaigua over Penfield, Pittsford over Irondequoit
March 28, 2013 - There were nine games played in the section today. Canandaigua scored five goals late in their game to defeat Penfield 7-5. Head Coach Andrew Whipple was the "Whipple-Winner" as Pittsford defeated his brother's team from Irondequoit 7-2. Brighton beat Schroeder 8-7 and Victor beat Rush-Henrietta 17-11. The other winners were Wayne, Gananda, Livonia, Gates Chili and Hilton. Full Report

Tuesday: Thomas over Penfield, Gananda Earns Shutout
March 26, 2013 - There were eleven games played in the section on Tuesday as a number of team opened their seasons. Webster Thomas scored the last six goals of their game at Penfield, as they defeated Penfield 9-7. Gananda won an elusive shutout, the first in their history, when they beat Wayne Central 7-0. Other winners were, Irondequoit, Canandaigua, Fairport, Pittsford, Eastridge, Churchville-Chili, Waterloo, Canisius and McQuaid Jesuit Full Report

2013 Boys Lacrosse Preview
This is a big year for Section Five Lacrosse as, after our own exciting tournament, we will be welcoming some of the best teams in the state when we host the NYS Boys Lacrosse Tournaments. St. John Fisher College, which will host our Sectional Championships, will also be the venue for the NYS quarterfinals and semifinals as well as the Championship games. Monday: The Pride wins Victory over Avon
March 25, 2013 - Years from now, the "trivia contest" will not be about the score of Avon's first Varsity game. It will be "who scored the first Varsity goal in Avon's history. The answer will be senior attackman Ryan Doudt. Full Report

Bishop Kearney Needs a Head Coach for This Year
March 24, 2013 - The Bishop Kearney Varsity team just lost their Head Coach who left for personal reasons. This late in the season, the boys need a qualified coach to step up and help them get started again. Full Report

Saturday: Geneva Takes Irondequoit 9-7
March 23, 2013 - Geneva surprised many with their exciting 9-7 win over last year's Class B Champion, Irondequoit in a game played at Hobart College in Geneva today.

Forty-One Games with Out of Section Opponents
March 22, 2013 - Section Five teams often add exciting games with teams outside the Section. Section 6 (Buffalo) and Section 3 (Syracuse) are favorite areas but some teams take advantage of spring break to visit out parts of the country. McQuaid Jesuit, for example, has combined travel and games with service projects. Full Report

Fairport, Penfield, Pittsford and Thomas Top Class A
With thirty-six head coaches responding to the Class A portion of the poll, Fairport takes the top coaches' list with thirty-five ranking them one of the top three programs in Class A. Pittsford and Penfield also came away with significant votes (twenty-eight each). Only two other programs received any votes (Webster Thomas and Hilton). Full Report

It Looks Like Irondequoit and Canandaigua in Class B
With thirty-six head coaches responding to the Class B portion of the poll, Irondequoit was the unanimous leader as all the coaches ranked them at one of the top three programs in the class. Canandaigua finished with a solid second (33 votes). Churchville-Chili finished with twenty-two votes and Victor finished with eleven votes. The defending Champion Eagles are once again the team to beat in Class B. Full Report

Penn Yan Look Good Again in Class C
With thirty-six head coaches responding to the Class C portion of the poll, Penn Yan was the unanimous leader as all the coaches ranked them one of the top three programs in the class. Aquinas came in with the number two spot at twenty-four votes. Livonia and Geneva both made significant showings with sixteen each. Full Report

Thursday: Opening Day for Season 2013
March 21, 2013 - The 2013 boys lacrosse season officially opened today when Batavia traveled to Medina of Section 6 where they lost 20-1. Senior midfielder Tyler Kuhn scored the unassisted goal for the Blue Devils. Full Report

Scrimmages Set to Begin
March 11, 2013 - Scrimmage time begins on Wednesday and teams are getting ready to find out what works well and what needs work. Saturday is a big day as many Varsity teams are scheduled to scrimmage as part of the Flower City Cup event. Scrimmages will take place at RIT, Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College. Michael Cuciti Selects Nazareth College
March 9, 2013 - Michael Cuciti will be staying close to home when he travels from Canandaigua to study and play lacrosse at Nazareth College. The senior goalie started playing with the Braves Varsity as a sophomore, recording 37 saves in twelve games (64%). Last season, he played 824 minutes in the cage, recording 186 saves (58%).
